I think even when we say it, if we don't mean it, it just means things could be better or worse, and I am ok with that... as a nurse or friend visiting a patient, it is important to dig deeper if you are going to ask such a question, but stop if Ok means - 'thanks for asking but i'm not really in the mood to talk about it.' It really is a little word with so many origins and different meanings, that make it both ambiguous and at the same time a simple way to express an enormous range of emotion. Thanks for your thought provoking comment Hilary, a pleasure as always Ida Thoughthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15479961947050289284noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5509673636575711646.post-6155993832689110652013-04-23T10:20:06.737+02:002013-04-23T10:20:06.737+02:00Hi Ida .. my mother in her hospital bed hated '...Hi Ida .. my mother in her hospital bed hated 'ok' because it didn't mean anything - said way too often and without any heart felt meaning .. and we do answer ok ---- when ok we are definitely not. No-one stops to clarify the received message, especially when it's said without any verve, meaning etc etc ..

I can quite understand my mother's thought process .. I tried to avoid it, but am not sure I did too well .. but the main thing was she was relatively content considering all things.

Cheers HilaryHilary Melton-Butcherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17596532480645510678noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5509673636575711646.post-85755901178022378672013-04-19T13:57:56.222+02:002013-04-19T13:57:56.222+02:00*giggles**giggles*Ida Thoughthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15479961947050289284noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5509673636575711646.post-20955493341221946802013-04-18T14:32:04.055+02:002013-04-18T14:32:04.055+02:00That's great Saumya, I learned a lot to and it...That's great Saumya, I learned a lot to and it's just from one simple word.
